Deal Not In Absolutes
Tuesday, March 21st, 2006As a child and teenager, I was raised Southern Baptist. While my family wasn’t “crazy” religious, we were usually in church, my dad served as a deacon, and my sisters and I were in Vacation Bible School pretty much every summer until we were old enough to start teaching it. While I no longer consider myself a religious person, growing up in church was an important and influential experience for me. Certainly as I got older, the conversations I got involved in with my peers, teachers, and other adult members of the church became increasingly sophisticated and powerful—for different reasons then and now. One of them had to do with rules.
